OCD Therapy

It does not have to be this way.

You might also have worked with a Therapist who “can” treat OCD, but does not have the training nor the experience to effectively moved past assessment scales for the purpose of assessment alone, and textbook exposures for the sake of doing exposures. They weren’t linked to your values, and you might have even left care feeling worse.

You might have tried OCD therapy utilizing a different modality than ERP. It won’t work.

This treatment is challenging, but I will be by your side every step of the way with warmth and humor so that you feel both supported and truly understood while we tackle exposures and non-engagement with intrusive thoughts together. Your restoration plan is guided by your values and the life you want to live without OCD.

I will treat your OCD utilizing the gold standard modality of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Nicole Foxe provides OCD Therapy in Savannah, Georgia using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

We will create a restoration plan that envisions your life in remission, for good. We will also create a relapse prevention plan, and actually practice relapse prevention post symptom remission so that you are confident you have the tools to live without OCD for the rest of your life.

When you are ready to do hard work, consistently, without avoidance of the challenging natures of exposures, I am your partner in creating and living a life without OCD. I am not the right fit for someone who wants to do exposures for the sake of proving they can be done without purpose. I am also not the right fit if you are experiencing suicidality, any active crisis, some forms of trauma (can be discussed in consult) or have challenges with emotional regulation when doing difficult work.

My approach to OCD works. Full stop.

I am a private-pay provider and do not accept insurance directly; I operate on an out-of-network basis with no relationship to any insurance company. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly statement called a superbill. You can submit this superbill to your insurance company to request reimbursement, which is not guaranteed.

You might be avoiding family, friends, work, in order to keep symptoms hidden or to prevent what could feel like a catastrophe or crime. Life might be incredibly painful, and you’ve been given false hope around relief.

You might be fully aware of the irrational nature of OCD symptoms, but the 1% chance that they are true are keeping you in a “prison with no lock.”

A life with OCD is smaller than you deserve.

Next, we will battle OCD together. When your symptoms are fewer, we will begin our relapse prevention plan for an OCD free life. I will cheer you on every step of the way.

If you do not have an OCD diagnosis, but suspect that you do, our first visit will include a diagnostic interview to determine whether you have OCD. If you do not, perhaps I am still the right fit for your care. We will discuss whether I or another referral partner would be the right fit. If you do have OCD, we will explore your values, and what you are missing in life due to OCD, to create an ERP plan that is flexible, but not fungible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does OCD care need to take place in person?

No, gold standard ERP treatment is equally effective virtually or in person. I will note, however, that if compulsions or rituals only take place in your home, there is an advantage to in-person visits that could expedite our results.

Will I feel worse at first? I heard that OCD care is torture and I will feel terrible for a while?

As part of informed consent, it is my duty to inform you of any risks to treatment. OCD care is harder at first than many other modalities, but my patients have reported that working with me is less painful than working with “brick wall” providers who have a cold, sterile approach. Feeling cared for enhances, not reduces results.
